Mega in Dorset!
A juvenile Short billed Dowitcher identified at Lodmoor RSPB near Weymouth Dorset. Luckily saw the bird in Aberdeen years ago, if it was closer be great see another! About time we had a good yank wader here.
We have space on our Norfolk weekend 28 - 30 September if anyone would like to join us for some great migrant hunting, sure to be some very good birds!

Sanderling at Cemlyn
I photographed this juvenile/1st winter Sanderling at Cemlyn last week. It was very approachable and was still there today with an assortment of commoner waders and a Whimbrel.
American Black Tern in St Helens
Here's a selection of photos of the American Black Tern that I got at Eccleston Mere, my old local patch in St Helens.Who would have thought it would turn up a 6th for Britain! It was also a good social occasion catching up with some old birding friends John (Bod) and Andy Spottiswood and Dave Owen.I also had a good chat to Colin who found it and John Taylor who got it on his "seen from the house" list!
Zillions of Scoter!
With flat calm sea and good light went to have a look at the scoter flock of Old Colwyn and what an amazing sight it is! The flock extends from Rhos Point to Llandulas, the numbers are staggering, if you get a chance go take a look. How many? No idea but many, many thousands. Perhaps over 100,000?? The flock is hundreds deep in places and streches for miles, be great to get a count but how would you do? From the air probably the only way, anyone got a plane?
Also a Velevet Scoter, a Black Tern and 2 Red t Divers, and sure to lost of other good stuff, who can find a White winged Scoter in there?
