Stopped in my tracks at Conwy RSPB reserve this morning when a bittern flew across infront of me from over Carneddau hide and on to drop down in the Welsh Water reedbed beyond the railway line. Its unlikely to be a lingering Conwy January bird with no sightings in the last two and a half months so a migrant bird heading to a breeding colony somewhere - unless it's joined by a mate at Conwy!. Believed to be the latest spring sighting for the reserve.
