  1. Thankfully it has now lifted it's wings! It's head and neck looks a bit pale and lacking in fine streaks for a Hudwit so presumably it is some form of mildly leucistic plumage.

  2. I know the lads who found this yesterday and they were phoning me to check on racial I.D of islandica and limosa. Hudsonian was never mentioned. They never saw the underwing but someone else apparantly did although I understand at the time he was unsure as to how much white there was. It was only when the information services saw the photo's that they decided to put it out as a possible Hudsonian Godwit. I went down last night for a couple of hours and althopugh a few Godwits came in this bird wasn't amongst them. A friend has been back this morning and confirmed it is a Black-tailed Godwit. A very unusual looking bird!

  3. National Birdline didn't mention possible last night they put it out as a breeding plumage Hudsonian Godwit. Interesting bird to see though I'm sure.
