Great Orme migrants - May 4th

The female Black Redstart was still present along the wall on the Great Orme limestone pavements this morning and showed well as it fed by dropping down from the wall onto the path to feed on some big fat juicy grubs. Ather birds included 5 Whinchats, 6 Tree Pipits, Yellow Wagtail, 2 Sedge Warblers in the gorse, Grasshopper Warbler in the further gorse bush at the north end, 25+ Wheatear, 15+ Willow Warbler, Chiff-chaff, Blackcap and Whitethroat - all prior to 8am. With the wind turning SE overnight and some rain over the next few days, it could be exciting!

  1. Was up on The Orme around 4.20pm today and caught up with the Black Redstart, a little beauty, and had the added bonus of a Pied Fly in the same bush just over the wall. Still at least 2 Whinchats.
