Help needed for nailed on Little Owls

I'm showing a Danish birder around this weekend who wants Little Owl. My local ones have been playing up lately, can anyone suggest any nailed on birds in North Wales, thanks.

  1. Cambridgeshire is pretty good. They'd be breeding around now so gotta be careful, even if there were any this way.
Just for the kiddies by nailed-on, Steve means a regular site or dead-cert, not nailed to anything. Unless its your txdermy mate?

  2. Llithfaen or Uwchmynydd. Only good sites I know of these days. Scarce bird in these parts these days. E-mail or text if you need the exact spots Steve.

  3. A day trip to Bardsey should get them (or even a week!!). Apparently where the guests for Bardsey park their cars for the week is a good spot, just around the farm. If you want better details email me. ps the disc is almost ready for you.

  4. Abit more closer to home...The last one I saw was at the Hoopoe site at Llansadwrn, looking straight up that long drive perched on the farm buildings. Not sure if they are resident there?!

  5. Ta. Tried the latter site on Saturday and again a no show! More suggestions appreciated, and no Robin, I,m not going to Cambridgeshire!

  6. The top quarry on the Little Orme sometimes has Little Owls. I can't say whether they are 'nailed on' though as not visited recently.

Also had one on a farm at Tyn-y-groes down the Conwy valley last year whilst atlassing.
A tricky species it seems! Good luck.

  7. Hi Steve. There are a couple of places near Wrexham which are normally pretty reliable. May be a bit out of your way though. Let me know if you want directions.
