A morning walk started off well with a presumed large family party of 9 Greenland white fronted Geese and 8 Barnacle Geese at Hen Borth. (They were still present this evening). The walk to Carmel Head was less productive with an approachable Golden Plover and 11 fly-over Crossbills being the highlights. A few dozen Mipits, Skylarks and a sprinkling of Chaffinches and Siskins were the only obvious vis-mig. At Cemlyn this evening I spent most of the time chasing rainbows but there was a Red-throated Diver, male Common Scoter and a Black Guillemot in the bay.

ReplyDeleteIt's the small bay immediately west of Cemlyn Bay. The fields just on the inland side of the road are a little wet and turn up the odd scarce goose, ruff, greenshank and the like. This was the best area for Lap bunts in the invasion year with 100+ in the vicinity! It's always worth a look if you're at Cemlyn.
ReplyDeleteThe Barnacles were still around today (tuesday) but the Whitefronts only stayed for a day.
