Spent the afternoon birding along the coast hoping to boost the year list after failing to see anything at Worlds End yesterday. Started at Llysfaen. Despite setting off in glorious sunshine it was misty when I arrived. Searching through thousands of scoter revealed no surf but there was a female long tailed duck on view. I decided to try for hawfinch at Llanbedr. Immediately on arrival a single bird was on view in the tree tops and with a bit of a wait 4 more birds were seen including scope filling views of a gorgeous male singing! As the sun was shining and the sunshine was out I decided to try for the surfies on the way home. Luck was in and I was directed onto a single drake among the huge flock soon after I got there. All in all a nice birding afternoon.
