Afternoons birding.
Spent the afternoon birding along the coast hoping to boost the year list after failing to see anything at Worlds End yesterday.
Started at Llysfaen. Despite setting off in glorious sunshine it was misty when I arrived. Searching through thousands of scoter revealed no surf but there was a female long tailed duck on view.
I decided to try for hawfinch at Llanbedr. Immediately on arrival a single bird was on view in the tree tops and with a bit of a wait 4 more birds were seen including scope filling views of a gorgeous male singing!
As the sun was shining and the sunshine was out I decided to try for the surfies on the way home. Luck was in and I was directed onto a single drake among the huge flock soon after I got there.
All in all a nice birding afternoon.

Good to bump into you again & do exactly the same as you!! Glad we made it easy at Llanbedr-y-cennin with the bird in my scope when you arrived & a big thanks to the guy who finally dug a Surfie out of that flock - I was losing the will to live staring at little black dots bobbing about miles out ;)
