Rhos Point and beyond

A black-throated diver was seen feeding between Colwyn Bay pier and Rhos Point today, presumably the bird that has been wintering here. A dozen red-throated divers around and a probable but distant great northern diver seen. At Rhos Point many hundreds of scoters flying past distantly towards Llandullas. A few kittiwakes seen and 20 plus wigeon on the sea. A trip out yesterday with JR saw us at Parkgate where we had both male and female hen harrier, short eared owl, a peregrine sitting on a log devouring a redshank and an impressive sight of between 3-4000 pink footed geese over Burton Marsh. Several avocets in at BMW but we missed the green-winged teal by 20 minutes!
