March begins

Well today it was a day out upto Moore and Martin Mere with Dave from Denbigh and Dave from Holyhead lol I felt like "Trigger"(from only fools and horses all day lol).

yWe had an earlyish start from Holyhead and almost immediately upon arrival at Moore we where admiring a lovely female Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, our second visit here and again great views ,what a start to the day!

At Moore we had good views of all the usual susbects common to the site ,but as we had pinned down our target bird we decide to head off for our first visit of the year to Martin Mere.

We arrived at Martin Mere at 11am , weather was mild but light was going to be an issue for pics but hey hoe what did we do before digital cameras lol.

We had great views of two Tawnet Owls flying about in the trees on the way up towards the Harrier Hide so as we dont often get the chance of pics of these gorgeous owls we had a bit of a break in our walk and snapped away.

We had excellant views of  all the usual birds on the feeders, watched two stunning Peregrines perched on fence posts on the far side of the main pond where they feed the Swans. Also lovely views of the usual Tree Sparrows, Ruff,Black Tailed Godwits, Pink Footed Geeseand of course the close views of all the captive ducks, geese and Swans are always a treat and ideal for pics to assist with id.

Also was nice to see that the Avocets had arrived back 44 where present today , great birds always a pleasure to watch.
