Green winged Teal - Conwy RSPB

As Alan has said, a Green winged Teal was found by Julian Hughes at Conwy RSPB this morning; the first along the Conwy coast for quite a few years. The bird soon went to roost on the islands and became difficult to view. The bird was then picked up by viewing from the opposite side of the reserve, from the screen looking back towards the Carneddau islands.

There have been a few 'dodgy' Green wined Teals around over the past few years, but this did look the real deal, even from the distance we were watching - no hint of horizontal stripe and lack of gold edging to green mask. Image below phonescoped with my iphone.

The other birds around included at least one Firecrest calling at the bridge, Water Rail, Greenshank and 3 Lesser Redpoll.
