Gulls Galore

Spent the morning looking at Gulls around the Rhyl area - mindboggling! Looking forward to seeing a picture of a bird taken by one of Alan's clients which was a 'yellow legged gull' type. Unfortunately I missed it by a minute but the pics on the back of the camera look interesting (it was at Horton's Nose where 10 Snow Bunts were showing).
No real gulls of note, however lots to look at with some potential 1st year 'argentatus' Herrings amongst the local birds, while some big dark mantled adult birds were in with the big gull roost at Colwyn Bay sea development site this evening. A few Lesser black backed Gulls arriving too. Good views of birds are to be had at Rhyl Brickwork pools with several Common Gulls, BHGs and Herring Gulls, including the striking white headed bird above.
With several Iceland Gulls in the North West, I was hoping for a white winger but had no luck -I'm sure well have more before the winter's out. Looking forward to see Rob and Pete's picture of their 2nd winter Iceland Gull on here soon. They found a very smart bird in fields at PenyGroes, Gwynedd this morning.
