The weather finally deteriorated today, with strong Southerly winds and heavy rain coming in late in the afternoon. There were very few new arrivals due to the conditions, although a first-winter Mediterranean Gull in Henllwyn was the first for some time, six Wheatears were on the South end with the male Lapland Bunting and a Black Redstart was seen at Cristin. Three Reed Buntings were amongst the Meadow Pipits, still numbering at a healthy 366 individuals, whilst 108 Chaffinches in the cow field near Ty Capel was the highest total of the year. A single Blackcap, 12 Chiffchaffs and 43 Goldcrests were mostly residue from yesterday, as was three Fieldfares, two Song Thrushes and seven Redwings.
