Dotterel Delight - April 19th, 2011

South easterlies brought a few of the hoped for migrants to the Great Orme this monring. Highlight being the 8 Dotterel that flew off calling from the limestone pavements early morning. This is the largest group I've seen on the Great orme - it's just a shame they didn't stay longer. Other migrants included 40+ Wheatears, with the majoity being classic Greenland birds (see above). 15+ Tree Pipits, Yellow wagtail, Brambling, Whitethraot and 100+ Lesser Redpoll made up the supporting cast. With near constant easterlies over the enxt five days - surely a scarce drift migrant is a possibility.
