An itch to twitch
Couldn't resist the temptation to get over to Burton Mere Wetlands reserve today and we were rewarded with almost instant views of the black-winged pratincole parading itself mostly over the Welsh side of the border for a great Welsh tick. Watched it for 15 minutes or so before it flew off towards the Flint bridge and was then lost to view. Good views also of the great white egret and was also nice to meet up with some of my old twitching buddies from Deeside/Chester/Wirral area. Carried on to Connah's Quay reserve where we had common terns, whimbrel and a lesser whitethroat.
