Porthmadog Cob. Black Terns etc....
There were 3 BLACK TERNS amongst a flock of 81 Arctic Terns and 10 Little Terns on the sandbanks between Portmeirion and Borth-y-gest this evening. Viewed from the Cob Embankment and successfully twitched by Rob from Penrhyndeudraeth. One Greenshank in the Cob Pools. 120 Dunlins flew high inland to the North at dusk with 11 Ringed Plovers. 9 Bar-tailed Godwits also off the Cob. 36 Whimbrels here last night (fewer this evening) with two Little Gulls including a stunning Summer-plumaged adult. Some great Spring passage here at the moment.

Good stuff Elfyn. Can't say I'm too surprised about the Black Terns - certainly felt good for one in Pwllheli today but failed miserably to find even one ;-)
ReplyDeleteWill have another look this evening, Andy. Smart birds in their breeding attire. Well worth looking for them in the next few days.
