Firecrests at Sewerage Works- lovely!

Two superb Firecrests showing well at Llanfairfechan Sewerage Works. This site is a traditional wintering Firecrest steak-out with it being a former year tick site throughout the late 70s and 80s. Norfolk Bird Artist and author Richard Millington even stopped off here on his infamous 1980 Twitcher's Diary. I must admit it was like going back 30 years standing along the lane watching this amazing species at this site.
Both birds showed along the small stream running alongside the sewerage beds. One was a superb displaying male which was flaring his Firecrest at the female bird.

  1. These two birds have been showing well here for most of the winter - have spent some time trying to get a decent photo.

  2. Superb. Nice one. I had the Redhead Smew at Spinnies again today. Did try Porth Penrhyn for Firecrest too which during the last 3/4 winters have been a reliable site for Firecrest but couldn't locate it today.
