Snow and Rain don't dampen birding

A magical moment this morning as 8 Hawfinch descended into the treetops at Llanbedr-y-cennin during a snow storm. Good numbers of winter thrushes at nearby Caerhun with some 50 Redwing, 20 Fieldfare and 5 Mistle Thrush. A scan through the gulls at Colwyn Nay produced the adult Med Gull with then came to bread as some workmen shared their breakfast with the local gulls. A single Great northern Diver was close inshore at Rhos Point while 20+ Common Scoter, 10 Red breasted Mergansers and 20+ Shag were also offshore. Finally the Black tailed Godwit was still enjoying the flooded fields opposite Rhos Golf course along with 100+ flocks of Curlew, Wigeon and Lapwing there. Unfortunately the weather then closed in and put pay to any more birding.

  1. A really enjoyable morning's birding Marc - thanks again! It just goes to show that some days everything just falls into place, in this case flys into place!
